Enterprise Modernization at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
At the Department of Veterans Affairs VA, Balder member Atlas Research embarked on a transformative journey with a clear objective: to align all VA operations with the needs and expectations of Veterans and beneficiaries. This modernization effort involved upgrading systems and reimagining how we meet the evolving needs of Veterans.
We undertook the task of developing a comprehensive 4-year forecast, a critical component of VA’s modernization strategy. This forecast focused on three key areas: 1) Anticipated Healthcare Demand, in which we analyzed trends and patterns to predict the demand for VA healthcare services; 2) Optimized Healthcare Capacity at VA Medical Centers (VAMCs), to ensure that each VAMC was equipped to meet future demands effectively and efficiently; and 3) Expanded Community Care Options, in accordance with the MISSION Act, we focused on enhancing healthcare capacity through community care providers, offering Veterans more choices and convenience.
Integral to this process was our collaboration with VA leaders in drafting a Strategic Plan to Support Healthcare Demand. This plan was presented to Congress, underlining the Department’s dedication and accountability in transforming VA healthcare.
