Improving Women’s Healthcare Services at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
Baldr Consulting member Atlas Research is dedicated to enhancing the quality and effectiveness of women's health services within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). Our ongoing project, the VA Women’s Health Comprehensive Program Review, has been a cornerstone of this commitment since 2013.
Over the course of multiple consecutive contracts, our team has conducted a thorough evaluation of women's health services across VA Medical Centers (VAMCs). Our primary goal has been to align these services with key outcomes, including adherence to national guidelines, patient satisfaction, and overall care quality. A significant tool in our approach has been the development of a specialized scoring tool, advised by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). This tool allows us to consistently measure and enhance services across all VAMCs. It has been instrumental in quantitatively assessing compliance, identifying best practices, and pinpointing areas in need of improvement. To complement our quantitative analysis, we employed various qualitative methods. These included observational tours, interviews, focus groups, and document reviews, all designed to provide deep insights into the delivery and reception of services.
An integral part of our project has been the active involvement of a broad spectrum of stakeholders. Their contributions have been vital in ensuring the evaluation's relevance and utility.
The culmination of our efforts was a series of comprehensive reports and briefings, offering clear, actionable recommendations for the improvement of VA women's health services. The systematic and inclusive approach adopted by Atlas Research in this evaluation stands as a testament to our commitment to providing effective, high-quality healthcare services. We are proud to contribute to the ongoing enhancement of women's health care within the VA system, honoring our commitment to those who have served our nation.
